Features/Characteristics

SME A08 is an electrode for surfacing of austenitic manganese steels and steels of widely varying composition for work hardening. Has excellent heat resistance upto 900 °C, resistant to corrosion by atmosphere, weak acids and sea water. The special feature include, soft and stable arc, which is easy to strike and re-strike, rippled smooth weld beads and good slag detachability.

 

SME A08 Welding Rod Uses/Applications

  1. Suitable for similar and dissimilar steels such as joining of austenitic manganese steels, carbon steels.
  2. Welding of heat treatable alloy steels for fabrication welding, maintenance and reclamation of worn-out parts.
  3. Buffer layer and hard facing in mining, cement, power plant, earth moving machinery.
  4. Joining buckets cracks of earth moving equipments.
  5. Surfacing manganese steel rails.
